Extracorporeal shockwave therapy

Extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT) is a new non-invasive safe and effective therapy for musculoskeletal pain and overuse injuries which has been proven by many years clinical experiment. Shockwave treatment involves the application of short, frequent, and high intensity bursts of mechanical energy (in the form of a shockwave) into soft-tissue that is injured, scarred, or contains adhesions, is painful, or inflamed. It applies low-energy shock waves to the treated areas and leads a cavitation effect. This cavitation effect will make a slight damage in the inflamed areas, which will induce neovascularization and finally promote blood circulation and acceleratethe healing process. At the same time, analgesic effect is realized through the stimulation of the pain sensitive nerves under the effect of shock waves.

Shockwave therapy is a multidisciplinary device used in orthopaedics, physiotherapy, sports medicine, urology and veterinary medicine. Its main assets are fast pain relief and mobility restoration. Together with being a non-surgical therapy with no need for painkillers makes it an ideal therapy to speed up recovery and cure various indications causing acute or chronic pain.

Air compressed system. Here a bullet in a barrel is accelerated using compressed air to strike an end plate generating the shockwave. These machine are characterised by requiring an air compressor and their shockwave generation is normally referred to in terms of pressure e.g 3.0bar.
